When designing and documenting a product, it is important to ensure you have clearly defined and documented requirements and specifications, consider and document;
A Functional Design Specification(Click to see a checklist of items to consider when writing a functional specification);
- What will each component do? e.g. Task entry will be via a form.
- What platform will the solution be implemented on e.g. Windows/UNIX
- What components will there be? e.g. A Service an API and a database.
- How will components fit together? e.g. A database will be used to collect information, a service will be written which calls a standard API to format data and import into the target database
- What technologies and tools will be used to create the application? e.g. A service written in C# will access an Ingress database.
