The Fivefold Mastery Visitta - List
The jhāyin who has just attained the first jhāna, through continuous practice, fixes his attention upon the same sign (nimitta) derived, for example, from a kasiṇa device or upon any other given subject of meditation and practices this repeatedly in order to make it habitual in his mind. This practice is known as “vasī”, or “vasitā”, “mastery”, and it is fivefold (Visuddhimagga IV).
