Home insurance is split into building and contents insurance. Buildings insurance covers the main structure of your property. Contents insurance covers your possessions. You can arrange cover separately or together, buying together can often save in terms of the insurance premiums. You can arrange to pay for insurance cover by paying upfront, or in monthly instalments, paying up front can often save in terms of home insurance premiums because of interest.

What to check before purchasing home insurance?
