The ten levels in Buddhism describe the progression of a practitioner on the path to enlightenment.Complete enlightenment occurs following the end of the tenth level, and is therefore known as the eleventh level or the bhumi of universal radiance.
The ten levels are also related to the ten perfections. For example, the first perfection of generosity is emphasized on the first level, the second perfection of discipline is emphasized on the second level, and so on.

They should be regarded as landmarks, points of reference on a map, rather than than events.
